Institute for Quantum Science and Technology

at the University of Calgary

The Institute for Quantum Science and Technology is a multidisciplinary group of researchers from the areas of Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. The goals of Calgary's Institute for Quantum Science and Technology are to conduct leading research in key theoretical and experimental topics of quantum science and technology, to provide excellent education and training in quantum science and technology and cognate areas, and to foster linkage between the Institute and other quantum science and technology institutes and with industrial partners.


Vision:

To be a world leader in research and education in pure and applied quantum science and technology.

Mission Statement:

To advance quantum science and technology through interdisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach.

Quantum Technology Dream Team Receives Major Innovation Fund

Congratulations! Rob Thompson has an article published in the Nature: Characterization of the 1S-2S transition in antihydrogen.

Congratulations! Ghazal Haji Salem is awarded an NSERC postdoctoral fellowship.

Congratulations! Barry Sanders has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

Aviram Rawal Lvovsky was born on August 30 at 6:03 am, 3.8 kilos and 48 cm.

Barry Sanders is a co-author of an article "Observation of topological edge states in parity-time-symmetric quantum walks" published in the "Nature Physics" on 31 July 2017. Congratulations!

Welcome new members to IQST. Gustavo Amaral, a new postdoc in Wolfgang Tittel's group. Jose da Costa Filho, Hamza Qureshi, and Prathwiraj Umesh started their graduate program at IQST. Welcome on board.

Congratulations! Nafiseh Sang-Nourpour successfully defended her Ph.D exam on 24 August 2017 and joined as a post-doctoral fellow at the National Optics Institute, Quèbec.

Congratulations! Priyaa Varshinee successfully defended her candadicacy exam on 24 August 2017.

Congratulations! Mark Girard successfully defended his Ph.D exam on 14 July 2017 and joined as a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo.
