Collective atomic effects in waveguide quantum electrodynamics

Rapid experimental advances with superconducting circuits have ushered in the new field of one-dimensional quantum optics with tunable artificial atoms. I discuss our theoretical and experimental work on subradiance, superradiance, electromagnetically induced transparency and cross-phase modulation with artificial atoms in waveguide quantum electrodynamics.
