Eyes High Postdoctoral Scholar Opportunity in Scalable Quantum Computing

Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences

Collaborative Research Group on the Mathematics of Quantum Information

University of Calgary Node

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Several postdoctoral fellowships are available to work on the mathematics of quantum information at the University of Calgary. The successful fellows would be members of the University of Calgary node of the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences Collaborative Research Group on the Mathematics of Quantum Information, which includes nodes at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia and the University of Washington. University of Calgary Faculty members of this Group comprise David Feder, Gilad Gour, Peter Høyer, Alex Lvovsky, Christoph Simon, Barry Sanders and Wolfgang Tittel who can serve as supervisors of successful applicants. Research topics include, but are not restricted to, models of quantum computing, quantum error correction and quantum algorithms.

The successful applicant is expected to have a PhD in theoretical physics, computer science or mathematics, strong written and oral communication skills and an excellent research track record. The application must include curriculum vitae and a research proposal for the duration of the two-year fellowship. The University of Calgary internal deadline for these applications is 16 November 2010. Three reference letters are required, and the application should nominate a supervisor from the list of University of Calgary Faculty members of this Collaborative Research Group. Successful applications will then be submitted to the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences by their 15 December 2010 deadline for final vetting. Successful applicants will then hold prestigious Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences Fellowships, tenable at the University of Calgary, for two years.

These positions can be applied for on-line through MathJobs. Follow instructions carefully in order to make sure you do not miss this opportunity.

The University of Calgary respects, appreciates and encourages diversity.
